In this session, we'll take a hard look at the data around what happens when women study STEM fields in college and then again in the workplace. The dropout or leave rate for women is much higher than it is for boys and the statistics are not getting better.

Next, participants will spend time considering how they might be contributing to the problem through their own unconscious bias. We'll learn about tools available for assessing one's own biases and then engage in one such assessment. No one will have to share their results, but we will complete a reflection exercise based on the results.

After reflection, the group will work together (or in small groups, depending on the size of the group) to design solutions. We'll consider our own communities and schools and identify steps we believe we must take. Along the way, we'll examine some existing programs that are trying to change the current landscape and discuss what efforts we see as most promising.
